Hold on to your eardrums! Angelo had a hankering to make some noise and here are the freshly mixed-down results. On the plus side, Angelo’s memory just isn’t what it used to be, and he can’t recall too many details of the actual recording process. He thinks it happened last month. The final mix was done today.

Look out, it’s a Panic Attack! This song was largely ceated with a program called Orion, which I got from a cover CD. Orion gives you plenty of options to create music using soft synths and samples. “Panic” was inspired by my 9 year old nephew. We were playing with Orion when he decided to “fill the screen” with notes. It sounded somehow compelling so I promised I’d use it one day. The drum was composed within Orion (I did it myself), while I added guitar and bass afterwards. I don’t recall using any particular effects, though I’m guessing some kind of overdrive on the guitar. All reverb was added in the mix, courtesy of the Voxengo OldSkoolVerb VST plug-in.
Here’s Voxengo’s description:
“This is a reverb unit plug-in suitable mainly for instruments and sounds which do not have sharp percussive elements to them, otherwise this reverb sounds too edgy.”

“Edgy” - that sounds suitable for a song about panic! You can find this plug-in and a host of other great FREE Voxengo plug-ins here! Once again, the various tracks were mixed down in Kristal.
