Hero has stern warning for copycats!
Reporters witnessed an angry outburst from the masked powerhouse Bruiser in downtown Halcyon.
A crowd gathered when a young male threatened to throw himself from a ledge of the Lisowski Building. The drama unfolded on the 23rd floor when a window washer saw the youth set out on a ledge. Police were summoned when the youth threatened to jump down to the street below unless he could speak to the Bruiser.
It was an hour before the hero appeared, and the wait was eventful, as the youth nearly slipped to his doom when a policewoman began to step out on the ledge. When the Bruiser appeared, the reason was the delay was obvious. His outfit bore obvious signs of pitched battle.
Bruiser's enormous frame soon filled a window. While no one could overhear the conversation, it was short-lived. After the youth said something, Bruiser suddenly reached out an over-sized hand and yanked the youth to safety.
The youth was roughly hustled into a squad car by police officers. A visibly upset Bruiser eyed the assembled reporters for a moment, before relenting to an impromptu press conference.
"Yeah, I think I should talk to you guys", he said. Bruiser took a moment to compose himself before making the following statement:
"Look, that idiot, I mean, that kid ... do you know why he was up there? He said he wanted to interview me and didn't know how else to reach me. Can you believe it? He nearly killed himself for a lousy interview. Look folks, get the word out, please. I don't want anyone to get the idea of pulling stunts like this. It won't pay off."
Unable or unwilling to answer any other questions on the situation, Bruiser relented to answer other questions. He noted the irony of the assembled group getting answers to their questions.
"See, none of you had to go stand on a ledge!"
He shook off questions about his actions prior to this encounter.
"Sorry, that's classified. Whatever it was, it's under control now. Ask me anything else."
A female reporter asked about reports linking him romantically with Countess Marlena Mysiah.
"What? Where do you folks come up with this stuff? I've never even met her ... she's not my type ... isn't she a bit of an ice queen? Whoops! forget I said that! Next question!"
Bruiser was asked if he had read "Celestion: A Hero Revealed".
"You'd be surprised how many people have given me copies at public functions. I've skimmed it. There's some interesting stuff in there. But don't ask me how much of it is true. I don't really know Celestion. I sat next to him at the White House once, but that's about it."
Would he consider writing his own book?
"Not for a long time. Maybe if I need the money one day. Of course, if I have to do the writing myself, it's going to be a picture book."
As the crowd laughed, the Bruiser caught a glimpse of a watch on a police officer's wrist.
"Crap! Is that the time? I've got to go! Sorry folks!"
As Bruiser made his way past the crowd, he laughed off questions about the reason for his urgency.
"Got a hot date?" asked a reporter.
"Yeah, yeah, it's with Mysiah - someone's got to warm her up! Just kidding! Don't write that!"
And with that, Halcyon's best known hero was gone.
