Celestion's Foes

Celestion is flanked by Hudson Jupiter (left) and Doctor Darius (right) in an artist’s depiction of a classic battle involving the three ca. 1958

One of the highlights of  our "Celestion: The Man, The Myth, The Manuscript" TV special was the segment where Celestion commented on some of his most famous (and infamous( foes). Here is a sample of the legendary hero’s frank commentary:

Dr. Darius: “I don’t think I ever knew anyone as twisted and as evil as him. Darius seemed to revel in discovering new ways to inflict pain.  The explosion which cost him a hand and ruined his features only made him more depraved.   Some say that evil is bred in the bone, so I’m not too surprised that Gregory Pelak was his nephew. In my heart, I feel Darius somehow had a hand in the Shine Scandal, even though he was already dead by then.”

Hudson Jupiter: “Without a doubt, the most dangerous man I’ve ever encountered, assuming he was indeed a man.  Seven feet tall with a stone like exterior, Jupiter came close to killing me on a number of occasions.  And yet, I got the impression he was working with a very basic level of intelligence.  Was he mute because he was physically incapable of speech, or mute because he literally had nothing to say? I wish I knew what became of him.  If he hasn’t passed away, one day the world could be in great danger.”
